Vidanta Mayan Palace Wedding Vow Renewal - Aira + Al
March 22, 2019
Aira and Al have a very special connection with Mexico, this is the beautiful story of Aira and Al Vidanta Mayan palace vow renewal and why Cancún was the beginning of a new history.
" Mexico holds a very special part in our hearts. While dating Cancun was the first vacation spot we visited together and it was my first time in Mexico as a whole. Immediately after landing I fell in love with Cancun and it’s culture. We spent an entire week just soaking the sun and falling in love with each other. When we return back to the states we immediately began planning our next vacation to Mexico. We wanted to go back to the same Hotel Line the Oasis and we did just that. As time progressed during that year I knew I had found Mr. Right and began looking at rings. It was August of 2008 my birthday week when it was time to go back to Cancun, on vacation again! We danced, ate amazing food, visited the Cancun Centro via the autobus, watched children play in the plaza and as well saw a wedding in the Centro church. It was such an amazing week. The day after my birthday we are laying out sunbathing when Al asked me to go in the water. As we got in the water I notice Al kneeling down and begins to tell me how much he loves me and how he can’t live the rest of his life without me. I look at Al with excitant and full of emotions.. He pulls the ring out of his pocket and I tell him immediately “you are crazy holding this ring in your bathing suit while we are in the water but yes, I will marry you!”… After that the rest was history… We began to tell everyone in the hotel we just got engaged… That night we witness a traditional Mexican Wedding on the beach and we looked at each other and said this is what we want… We returned back to the states and put a date together, we began planning, was back to Mexico twice to meet the wedding coordinator, photographer, mariachis and the DJ. You already know we love to vacation… It’s months before our wedding and we go on a weekend hiking getaway to Hunter Mountain in New York. While hiking I let Al know that something is not right. I think I’m pregnant. Al looks at me as if I’m crazy. We went to the pharmacy to pick up a pregnancy test… guest what guys: During our wedding planning journey in Cancun we created baby Aedian not intestinally… I was pregnant.
It's our wedding day… Everyone made it to Cancun, MX and it went as planned and then some…
Fast forward months and years, we had Aedian on December 10, 2009, a Cancun, MX creation. Went back to Mexico two years later after having Aedian and 6 years later after those two years. By then we knew we wanted to renew our vows after 10 years in Mexico and here we are… We chose the Riviera Maya for our vow renewal because we wanted a more rustic intimate setting since it was only going to be the three of us this time around.
Our little guy has been with us throughout this entire journey, once in my belly and now in person. " - Aira
- How did you meet each other and what it means for you to say YES again?
Al and I met through work, not working for the same company and we hit it off immediately. We had so much in common. We both love the outdoors, beaches and vacation… We are truly soulmates. Saying yes again was just a reminder of our love for each other and a reminder why we did it in the first place. Not only that, to be able to have our son witness the second Yes was a very emotional moment. - Aira
- 2 months before you got married you discovered that you were pregnant what do you felt when you walked together to the altar 10 years later and now with Aedian?
As mentioned Al and I love to vacation. It was one of the things we have in commend and two months before our wedding, we decided to go on a hiking mini weekend getaway. During that weekend I felt a little off. I knew something was not right. I made Al drive to the pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test which was 30 minutes away from our hotel. Al said oh, you’re not pregnant it’s in your head. I said I don’t know…. but I think I am and I even took a picture of him with the box.
Surly so I was pregnant. We were excited, scared and nervous. We began to think about how to spill the beans… How do we tell our families.. It then hit me OMG… MY DRESS will it fit? We have two more months before the wedding… We decide to let our family know the day before our wedding over our dinner rehearsal. It was the week before the wedding and it was time to pick up my dress… Guess what the top of my dress was thigh and the seamstress thought I gain weight on purpose. She was telling me how I should have held off the eating until after my wedding day because look now the dress doesn’t fit… I looked at her and said I wasn’t overeating I’m pregnant. She looked into my eyes with fear and said OMG I’m so sorry. We will make this work. On, our wedding day the dress fit like a glove and she didn’t even make any alterations. Fast forward 10 years our son was the one who zipped up my dress on our wedding day. Walking down the boardwalk with Al and Aedian this time around was memorable and words can not express how we felt. - Aira
- You had a very emotional ceremony, what was your favorite moment during the ceremony?
My favorite moment was when we exchanged our vows and we reminded each other of our love and unity while Aedian was a witness. - Aira
- How did you felt working with Vanessa Cruz ?
The fact that Vanessa Cruz was recommended by our original photographer was priceless in itself. It was meant to be… Vanessa went out of her away to capture our precious moments. Absolutely THE BEST photographer around! Vanessa makes you feel at ease the entire time and truly captures the most amazing shots—-both unique and timeless, you can tell she loves every moment of it.
